We believe that education and training opens the door to future opportunities. We run programmes and initiatives aimed at delivering practical educational support, employment readiness and personal development.

Are you disengaged with mainstream education? Would you like to gain qualifications for your CV while also building the self-belief and confidence to pursue your goals?

The award winning HITZ Programme – delivered nationally by all Premiership Rugby clubs – uses the core values of rugby, alongside other sporting and extracurricular opportunities to increase young people’s resilience, self-confidence and long-term employability.

HITZ provides learners with the opportunity to gain key qualifications in Maths and English, as well as BTECs in Sport and Active Leisure. The BTEC-based education programme is delivered by our education providers, SCL, an approved BTEC centre. Harlequins Foundation will deliver the HITZ Learning Academy in partnership with SCL.”

The HITZ Programme is open to young people between the ages of 16 to19 who are currently out of education, employment or training. Learners receive support from both a dedicated tutor and a HITZ Officer who is solely responsible for their individual development. Qualifications are a key focus of the programme; however, enrichment hours provide opportunities to develop life skills, participate in new and exciting activities and gain valuable work experience.

HITZ takes place three days a week, from 09:00 to 15:00, at our Learning Centre at the Twickenham Stoop. The day is split between classes, taught in a way that better suits an individual’s learning styles, and enrichment activities, which can range from mock interviews and coaching experience, to a kickabout in the fresh air and excursions to GoApe.

For further information on how to become involved in the HITZ Programme You can contact Matthew Shillabeer by clicking here  or call him on 07817076851.

The Legal Social Mobility Partnership (LSMP)

The LSMP is a collaboration of law firms, partner clients, commercial organisations and the world of professional sport. They work together to provide school-aged students from less privileged backgrounds access to a Work Insight and Skills Programme to develop career aspirations.

Students are provided access to a Work Insight and Skills Programme and ongoing virtual coaching.

In July 2017, the Harlequins Foundation hosted an Aspire Day at The Stoop for 150 pupils, who spent the day participating in workshops on topics including mental resilience.
